Health Care Enhancements Announced for Buchans

Enhancements to provincial health care infrastructure continue with $510,700 invested through Budget 2012: People and Prosperity, for upgrades to A.M. Guy Memorial Health Centre in Buchans. The Honourable Susan Sullivan, Minister of Health and Community Service, made the announcement today.

“As a government we recognize the importance of investing in health care facilities throughout the province so our health care providers can continue to deliver quality care to our residents,” said Minister Sullivan. “This includes significant investments for required equipment and improvements to infrastructure. In Buchans, our investment will not only ensure patients and staff at A.M. Guy can benefit from new vital equipment, but we are also investing in patient safety through a new nurse call system and emergency night lighting for the facility.”

Budget 2012 includes $406,200 to install a new nurse call system at the Buchans health care facility, as well as replacement of the generator set, which includes the emergency and wall mounted night lighting system. Also outlined today was $104,500 for the purchase of health care equipment, including IV pumps, a bathing system and laboratory equipment.

“We are pleased to partner with the Provincial Government to enhance the provision of health care in the Buchans area,” said Karen McGrath, CEO, Central Health. “Investments in equipment for this health centre support patient safety and ensures access to quality health care services for the people of this area.”
