Public Advisory: Provincial Drug Program Recipients
May Be Impacted by Pharmacy Closure

The Department of Health and Community Services was advised by the Newfoundland and Labrador Pharmacy Board the evening of May 6 that effective immediately the pharmacy section of Downtown Pharmacy on Water Street in St. John’s has closed and prescriptions can no longer be filled at this location.

This closure may impact clients of the Newfoundland and Labrador Prescription Drug Program (NLPDP), as well as other residents, who have their prescriptions filled at this pharmacy. Clients of the drug program, or any resident, impacted by the closure can call the Newfoundland and Labrador HealthLine at 1-888-709-2929 (TTY 1-888-709-3555) for information on how to access their prescription medications.

Questions with respect to the closure of the Downtown Pharmacy should be directed to the Newfoundland and Labrador Pharmacy Board at 753-5877.

The NLPDP provides financial assistance for the purchase of prescription medications for residents of Newfoundland and Labrador and consists of five main plans: the Foundation Plan, 65Plus Plan, Access Plan, Assurance Plan and the Select Needs Plan.
