Local Company Attending Fur Exposition with Assistance from Provincial Government

Always in Vogue in St. John's will be attending the North American Fur and Fashion Exposition Montreal to promote and display Newfoundland and Labrador seal products. The garments to be displayed have been made locally and include jackets, slippers and vests. The Honourable Darin King, Minister of Fisheries and Aquaculture, was at Always in Vogue today to announce a contribution of $17,670 from fisheries development funding in support of the initiative.

“It’s vitally important to our sealing industry that retailers continue to market and showcase Newfoundland and Labrador seal products to the world,” said Minister King. “The fur expo is a fantastic opportunity to promote our seal products and to attract new global buyers. Always in Vogue has been engaged in the seal garment industry for many years and we look forward to expanding sales internationally through this initiative.”

The exposition takes place from April 30 to May 1. The Provincial Government's support will help offset the total cost of $46,700 associated with travel, accommodations, booth setup and participation in the exhibitor fashion show.

“This is a great opportunity for our company to show the world the products we have to offer buyers,” said Bernie Halloran, owner of Always in Vogue. “I would like to thank the Provincial Government for supporting our attendance at this important event which will undoubtedly have numerous benefits for the province as a whole, from harvesters to manufacturers alike.”

The North American Fur and Fashion Exposition Montreal provides suppliers with the opportunity to display product directly to buyers from around the world. It has been ongoing for 30 years and is the only trade show in North America for luxury outerwear. The expo is organized by the Fur Council of Canada and the show promotes Canadian and American manufacturers and other suppliers representing over 200 brand collections. Last year the event attracted 3,473 buyers from the United States, Canada, Russia, Germany, Austria, Italy and Belgium.
