Senior Appointment Announced

The Honourable Kathy Dunderdale, Premier of Newfoundland and Labrador, today announced the appointment of Peter Au as Assistant Deputy Minister of Taxation and Fiscal Policy with the Department of Finance, effective October 18.

“I congratulate Mr. Au on his appointment to this senior level position,” said Premier Dunderdale. “His experience in the private sector and more recently with the public service will be of great value as he assumes his new responsibilities.”

Mr. Au has been with the Government of Newfoundland and Labrador since 2010 as Assistant Deputy Minister with the Department of Innovation, Business and Rural Development.

Biographical Information

Peter Au
Mr. Au joined the provincial public service in 2010 as Assistant Deputy Minister responsible for the Strategic Industries and Business Development branch of the Department of Innovation, Business and Rural Development. This appointment followed over 30 years experience in the private sector in various capacities with Ernst and Young, the Johnson Group of Companies and as a management consultant. Mr. Au received a Bachelor of Science (Biochemistry) from Memorial University, and is a member of the Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountants. His areas of expertise include taxation, strategic and financial planning, policy development and interpretations and financial analysis, projections and forecasting.
