Media Advisory: Minister to Attend Take Back the Night March

The Honourable Charlene Johnson, Minister Responsible for the Status of Women and lead Minister for the Violence Prevention Initiative, will participate in the 28th Annual Take Back the Night March today (Friday, September 21) at 6:45 p.m. in St. John’s. The march will begin at Bannerman Park and proceed to City Hall where a rally will take place.

Take Back the Night Marches take place all over the world and serve as a way for women to unite and voice their desire to end fear when it comes to sexual assault, harassment, and other forms of violence. Take Back the Night marches have been taking place in St. John’s since 1985.
