Media Advisory: Premier to Open Newfoundland and Labrador Summer Games
The Honourable Kathy Dunderdale, Premier of Newfoundland and Labrador, will launch the Newfoundland and Labrador Summer Games tomorrow (Saturday, August 18).
Also in attendance will be the Honourable Derrick Dalley, Minister of Tourism, Culture and Recreation; the Honourable Jerome Kennedy, Minister of Natural Resources and MHA for Carbonear - Harbour Grace; the Honourable Nick McGrath, Minister for Intergovernmental and Aboriginal Affairs; the Honourable Charlene Johnson, Minister of Child, Youth and Family Services; the Honourable Kevin O’Brien, Minister of Municipal Affairs; and the Honourable Terry French, Minister of Environment and Conservation.
The event will take place at the Carbonear Recreation Complex, Valley Road, Carbonear, at 7:00 p.m., with Premier Dunderdale speaking at approximately 7:30 p.m.
Athletes from all areas of the province, ages 11-18, compete in a range
of sports at the Newfoundland and Labrador Games, which are held every two
years, alternating winter and summer, and coordinated by the Department of
Tourism, Culture and Recreation in conjunction with Sport Newfoundland and
Labrador and provincial sports organizations.
