Media Advisory: Ceremonial Shrub Plantings Planned for Victoria Day

In recognition of the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee, the Honourable Nick McGrath, Minister for Intergovernmental and Aboriginal Affairs will host a shrub planting ceremony tomorrow (Thursday, May 24) at 8:30 a.m. at Confederation Building. Minister McGrath will be joined by representatives of the Royal Commonwealth Society - Newfoundland and Labrador Branch.

The ceremony will take place at Confederation Building, East Block, south-east lawn, facing Prince Phillip Parkway adjacent to the Shield. Media and the general public are invited to attend.

Their Honours, His Honour the Honourable John C. Crosbie and Her Honour Jane Furneaux Crosbie, will be joined by invited guests at Government House at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 24, for a shrub planting on the Government House grounds.

Amber Jubilee Ninebark shrubs have been provided by the Government of Manitoba in celebration of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II’s Diamond Jubilee. Shrub plantings are happening across the country at participating Lieutenant Governor’s residences and legislatures to commemorate Victoria Day.
