Media Advisory: Minister to Join URock Volunteer
Award Winners at Gala Event

The Honourable Nick McGrath, Minister Responsible for the Volunteer and Non-Profit Sector, will present eight deserving recipients with the URock Volunteer Award. The awards gala takes place tomorrow (Saturday, May 12) at the CLB Armoury, 82 Harvey Road, St. John’s.

Doors open at 6:00 p.m. with a red carpet event beginning at 6:40 p.m. The awards show will be hosted by local comedian and entertainer Jonny Harris and will feature performances by The Idlers, Those Lasers, Repartee and The Pathological Lovers. It is expected that over 350 people will be in attendance.

The award was established in January 2010 and recognizes the unique contributions of young people, as well as youth-led organizations, who give their time and effort in a volunteer capacity for their communities.
