Cottage Lots Available for Sale at Butt’s Pond in Central Newfoundland

A total of 21 Crown land cottage lots located at Butt’s Pond, central Newfoundland, are being made available through an upcoming public draw. Ranging in price from $12,800 to $24,600, the lots will be sold as grants (outright ownership) with the full price due upon signature of the title document.

“Demand for recreational cottage lots is increasing and it is important we manage Crown land wisely and in a sustainable manner,” said the Honourable Tom Hedderson, Minister of Environment and Conservation. “We will ensure that the people of our province have fair access to these recreational cottage lots through our public draw process.”

Anyone interested in obtaining a lot must submit a public draw entry form to the Central Regional Lands Office in Gander no later than 4:15 p.m., Friday, November 9, 2012. Entry forms received after that deadline will not be eligible. Entry forms can be printed from the website at www.gov.nl.ca/env or obtained from the Crown Lands office located at:

Central Regional Lands Office
Department of Environment and Conservation

The public draw will be held at 3:00 p.m., Thursday, November 22, 2012 at the Central Regional Lands Office, Fraser Mall, Gander to determine selection order for the lots. Entrants may attend this meeting but attendance is not necessary. The randomly sorted list will be posted on the website and at the Crown Lands offices following the public draw. The list will not display any personal contact information. It is the responsibility of entrants to check for their ranking in the draw. Draw entrants will not be mailed or contacted by the Department of Environment and Conservation.

Lot selection will take place at a public meeting taking place at 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, December 5, 2012 at Sinbad’s Hotel, Gander. Attendance by draw entrants or their formally designated proxy representative will be required. An application fee of $100 plus $13 HST and a $200 document processing fee must be paid at the time a lot is selected. These non-refundable fees will be charged towards the cost of processing the application and preparing title documents. Anyone interested in obtaining a lot is advised to inspect the lots and view on-site septic system evaluation reports prior to the selection meeting.
