Environmental Assessment Bulletin

The Honourable Tom Hedderson, Minister of Environment and Conservation, has announced the following event relative to Part 10 Environmental Assessment of the Environmental Protection Act.

UNDERTAKING REGISTERED:

Happy Valley-Goose Bay Storage/Scrapyard                                 (Reg. 1676)
Proponent: Joe’s Autobody Shop Limited

The proponent plans to construct and operate an automobile storage/scrapyard approximately 15 kilometres from Happy Valley-Goose Bay. Construction will consist of the removal of existing vegetation and the construction of a shed and a chain linked fence on the perimeter. The storage/scrapyard will provide an area to store scrapped vehicles until a salvage dealer can collect them. No crushing of vehicles will take place at this facility. The storage/scrapyard will operate year-round. Construction is scheduled to begin fall 2012.

The undertaking was registered on October 25, 2012; the deadline for public comments is November 29, 2012; and the minister’s decision is due by December 9, 2012.
