Environmental Assessment Bulletin
The Honourable Terry French, Minister of Environment and Conservation, has announced the following events relative to Part 10 Environmental Assessment of the Environmental Protection Act.
UNDERTAKING REGISTERED:
Loch Leven Forage Production (Resubmission) (Reg. 1672)
Proponent: New World Dairy Inc.
The proponent proposes to develop approximately 100 hectares of land for forage production near the community of Loch Leven. The development of the forage fields will require clearing vegetation in the proposed area. The proposed development will provide forage for the local market and will have a seasonal operation. The project is scheduled to commence in late fall, 2012.
The undertaking was registered on September 24, 2012; the deadline for public comments is November 1, 2012; and the minister’s decision is due by November 8, 2012.

Heart’s Delight Quarry (Reg. 1653)

Project is released subject to the following condition:
- A vegetated, treed 30-metre buffer is to be maintained between the quarry site and Route 80 (The Baccalieu Trail).
Heart’s Desire Quarry (Reg. 1652)
Proponent: Star Realty
Project is released subject to the following condition:
- A vegetated, treed 30-metre buffer is to be maintained between the quarry site and Route 80 (The Baccalieu Trail).
UNDERTAKING WITHDRAWN:
Peters Pond Cranberry Farm (Reg. 1546)
Proponent: Bryan Borland, BHB Farms
UNDERTAKING REJECTED:
Barachois River - Cartyville Area Forage Farm (Reg. 1613)
Proponent:
Madore Enterprises Limited
Project is rejected due to the following:
- The Department of Transportation and Works advised that the access to the proposed site from the TCH as located is unacceptable due to safety reasons.
