Environmental Assessment Bulletin

The Honourable Terry French, Minister of Environment and Conservation, has announced the following events relative to Part 10 Environmental Assessment of the Environmental Protection Act.

UNDERTAKING REGISTERED:

Robinson’s Pasture Road Forage Production                                        (Reg. 1668)
Proponent: New World Dairy Inc.

The proponent has submitted a proposal for the development of approximately 291 hectares of land for forage production near the Robinson’s Pasture Road approximately five kilometres from the Trans Canada Highway, on the west coast of the province. The purpose of this development is to increase the amount of forage production for the local dairy industry, eliminating the need to import forage from outside the province. Land clearing is scheduled to commence on or before April 1, 2013, pending approvals.

The undertaking was registered on September 4, 2012; the deadline for public comments is October 11, 2012; and the minister’s decision is due by October 19, 2012.

Proponent: Newhope Fish Farm Inc.

Sandy Harbour River ATV Trail                                                             (Reg. 1658)
Proponent: Randy Edwards

The project is released subject to the following condition:

• A minimum of a 30-metre naturally vegetated buffer must be maintained between the high-water mark of waterbodies and the ATV trail except where there are permitted water and/or wetland crossings.
