Environmental Assessment Bulletin

The Honourable Terry French, Minister of Environment and Conservation, has announced the following events relative to Part 10 Environmental Assessment of the Environmental Protection Act.

UNDERTAKING REGISTERED:

Bird Cove – St. Margaret’s Bay Hiking and ATV Trails                                (Reg. 1667)
Proponent: Town of Bird Cove and St. Barbe Development Association

The proponent has submitted a proposal for the construction and development of a system of hiking and ATV trails near the town of Bird Cove along the shoreline of St. Margaret’s Bay on the Northern Peninsula. The walking trails will be approximately one metre in width, and the ATV trails will be 2.5 metres in width. The total length of trails to be developed will be 9.25 kilometres and will be a combination of natural surfaces with boardwalks in wet areas. The proposed work is scheduled to begin during the fall of 2012 or spring 2013.

The undertaking was registered on August 29, 2012; the deadline for public comments is October 9, 2012; and the minister’s decision is due by October 13, 2012.
