Environmental Assessment Bulletin

The Honourable Terry French, Minister of Environment and Conservation, has announced the following event relative to Part 10 Environmental Assessment of the Environmental Protection Act.

UNDERTAKING REGISTERED:

Third Pond ATV Trail           (Reg. 1659)
Proponent: Carl Diamond

The proponent has submitted a proposal for the construction of a two-kilometre ATV trail on the Great Northern Peninsula, approximately 45 kilometres east of Plum Point. The proposed trail will intersect with a forestry road off Route 430 and will be used to access an existing cabin located at Third Pond. No stream crossings are required and wetlands will be avoided. Construction will consist of clearing trees and removing stumps using manual labour and a small excavator if necessary. This project is proposed to begin in the fall 2012 and take one week to complete.

The undertaking was registered on July 26, 2012; the deadline for public comments is August 31, 2012; and the minister’s decision is due by September 8, 2012.
