Environmental Assessment Bulletin

The Honourable Terry French, Minister of Environment and Conservation, has announced the following events relative to Part 10 Environmental Assessment of the Environmental Protection Act.

UNDERTAKING REGISTERED:

Peter’s River – New Bay Road Quarry                  (Reg. 1643)
Proponent: Oakes Trucking Ltd.

The proponent has submitted a proposal for the development of a three hectare quarry adjacent to an existing quarry near Grand Falls-Windsor. The site is located 600 metres west of New Bay Road and a forest access road off New Bay Road will be used to access the site. Operations will include clearing, crushing, screening and pit run removal. The proposed quarry will provide sand and gravel for paving operations in the Grand Falls-Windsor area. Work is scheduled to take place between May and November 2012.

The undertaking was registered on April 17, 2012; the deadline for public comments is May 24, 2012; and the minister’s decision is due by May 27, 2012.

Peters Pond (Bryan Borland) Quarry                   (Reg. 1642)
Proponent: Bryan Borland

The proponent proposes to develop a quarry located three kilometres southwest of Peters Pond, off Route 350 (the Botwood Highway) in the Bishop’s Falls area. The project will produce sand, gravel and borrow material for local demand. The site covers an area five hectares in size. Operations are scheduled to begin in May 2012.

The undertaking was registered on April 12, 2012; the deadline for public comments is May 24, 2012; and the minister’s decision is due by May 27, 2012.
