Environmental Assessment Bulletin

The Honourable Terry French, Minister of Environment and Conservation, has announced the following events relative to Part 10 Environmental Assessment of the Environmental Protection Act.

UNDERTAKINGS RELEASED:

Whitbourne Sod Farm
Proponent: Murphy’s Sod Farm                                                 (Reg. 1623)

Forest Management District 1: Crown Five-Year Operating Plan (2012-2016)
Proponent: Department of Natural Resources                            (Reg. 1614)

The project is released subject to the following conditions:

• The harvesting, silviculture, and access road construction restrictions outlined in Schedule A from the Wildlife Division.
• The harvesting, silviculture, and access road construction restrictions outlined in Schedule B from the City of St. John’s.
• All proposed activities at the proposed Mosquito Brook Pond cutblock (Area B-6C) are to be deferred from this Forest Management Plan, 2012-2016 until the 2013 Sustainable Forest Management Strategy is presented.
• Commercial activities in the proposed Henders cutblock (Area B-1C) will be limited to selective harvesting for sawlogs and/or maximum size contiguous clearcuts of less than 0.5 hectares. Buffers around all waterbodies will be at least 30 metres.

CORRECTION TO BULLETIN:

Happy Valley-Goose Bay Shooting Range
Proponent: Labrador Hunting and Fishing Association Inc.          (Reg. 1636)

This proposal will include construction of a 10 metre x 20 metre administration building, not a 30 metre x 60 metre building as previously stated.
