Media Advisory: Ministers to Attend National Meeting of Education Counterparts

The Honourable Clyde Jackman, Minister of Education, and the Honourable Joan Burke, Minister of Advanced Education and Skills, will join provincial and territorial education ministers from across Canada for the 100th meeting of the Council of Ministers of Education, Canada (CMEC) meetings in Halifax this week, July 5 and 6.

The ministers will discuss anti-bullying initiatives in jurisdictions across the country, the impact of technology in the classroom, and progress on common priorities including early childhood learning and development, Aboriginal education, international educational, and other key issues facing the K-12 and post-secondary sectors.

CMEC is an intergovernmental body composed of ministers responsible for elementary, secondary and advanced education from the provinces and territories. Through CMEC, ministers share information and undertake projects in areas of mutual interest.
