Woodland Elementary to Receive Electrical Upgrades
Woodland Elementary, a K-6 school in Dildo, will soon receive nearly $515,000 in electrical upgrades following a recent tender awarded to H.J. Bartlett Electric Inc. of Mount Pearl.
“As part of this contract, the fire and alarm systems at Woodland Elementary will be upgraded, and wiring and electrical distribution equipment will be updated,” said the Honourable Clyde Jackman, Minister of Education. “With this latest investment, more than $709,000 has been spent on improvements to Woodland Elementary in recent years.”
The electrical work is scheduled to be completed over the summer months.
“It is important that our students and teachers continue to have safe environments in which to teach and learn,” said Bellevue MHA Calvin Peach. “I am pleased that our government continues to invest in Woodland Elementary, and in schools throughout the province, making education and learning a priority.”
Since 2004, the Provincial Government has allocated more than $504 million for school infrastructure. Nine new schools have opened; five more are in various stages of planning or construction; 12 major extension and renovation projects have been completed, and six more are underway or in the planning stages.
