Window Replacement Tendered for Lakewood Academy in Glenwood

Noble’s Construction Ltd. of Springdale has been awarded a $114,466 tender to replace the windows at Lakewood Academy, a K-12 school in Glenwood.

“The Provincial Government is continuing to fund upgrades, renovations and repairs to school infrastructure throughout Newfoundland and Labrador,” said the Honourable Clyde Jackman, Minister of Education. “These projects help protect our investment in existing school facilities, and ensure students and staff members continue to enjoy safe, comfortable learning environments.”

Coupled with a roof replacement undertaken at the school in 2010-11, more than $440,000 has been approved for renovations to Lakewood Academy in the past two years.

The window replacement project will be completed over the summer months.

“I am delighted to see another significant investment in a school facility,” said the Honourable Kevin O’Brien, Minister of Municipal Affairs and MHA for Gander. “Keeping our schools upgraded is a very important part of the learning and safety of our children.”

Since 2004, the Provincial Government has allocated more than $504 million for school infrastructure. Nine new schools have opened; five more are in various stages of planning or construction; 12 major extension and renovation projects have been completed, and six more are under way or in the planning stages.
