Additional Improvements For Cape St. George School
Our Lady of the Cape School in Cape St. George will soon see $197,000 in improvements following a recent tender awarded to Whitestone Group Inc. of Stephenville.
“The work involves window, door and siding replacement at the K-8 school, which is expected to be completed during the summer months,” said the Honourable Clyde Jackman, Minister of Education. “The Provincial Government continues to upgrade and improve school infrastructure across Newfoundland and Labrador as part of our commitment to provide safe and comfortable learning environments for students and staff.”
With this investment, over $500,000 has been spent on roofing, siding and other improvements at the Our Lady of the Cape School in recent years.
"These upgrades improve the learning environment for the students at Our Lady of the Cape School, making it a more pleasant place to come to daily and learn,” said Tony Cornect, MHA for Port au Port. “This government’s investment in school infrastructure will have a positive outcome for everyone concerned.”
Since 2004, the Provincial Government has approved more than $504 million for school infrastructure. Nine new schools have opened; five more are in various stages of planning or construction; 12 major extension and renovation projects have been completed, and six more are under way or in the planning stages.
