Cow Head School to Undergo Improvements

Long Range Academy, a K-12 school located in Cow Head on the Northern Peninsula, will soon see almost $294,000 in improvements following a recent tender awarded to Pittman’s Enterprises Ltd. of St. Paul’s.

“The approved project, which includes a partial roof replacement and the installation of new exterior doors, will be completed over the summer months,” said the Honourable Clyde Jackman, Minister of Education. “It is part of the Provincial Government’s ongoing efforts to upgrade and improve school infrastructure to ensure we continue to have safe and comfortable learning environments for students and staff.”

With this investment, more than $453,000 has been approved for improvements to Long Range Academy in recent years, including the replacement of windows and other exterior work.

Since 2004, the Provincial Government has approved more than $504 million for school infrastructure. Nine new schools have opened; five more are in various stages of planning or construction; 12 major extension and renovation projects have been completed, and six more are under way or in the planning stages.
