New Windows Add to Improvements at Mount Pearl School

Eastern Contracting Ltd. has been awarded a tender to replace windows, valued at over $133,000, at Mary Queen of the World Elementary in Mount Pearl.

“The Provincial Government is continuing to fund upgrades, renovations and repairs to school infrastructure throughout Newfoundland and Labrador,” said the Honourable Clyde Jackman, Minister of Education. “These projects help protect our investment in existing school facilities, and ensure students and staff continue to enjoy safe, comfortable learning environments.”

Since 2006, about $645,000 has been approved for upgrades to Mary Queen of the World, including earlier window replacements, new roofing and other improvements.

“Mary Queen of the World is a vibrant, wonderful school community," said Steve Kent, MHA for Mount Pearl North. “It's great to see the Provincial Government’s continued commitment to investing in education infrastructure, and this latest announcement is indeed positive news for students, staff and families.”

Budget 2011 Standing Strong: For Prosperity. For Our Future. For Newfoundland and Labrador, includes $94.5 million for new and ongoing K-12 infrastructure projects, including $34.3 million for repairs and maintenance.
