Roadwork Rolls Out in Central Newfoundland
Five roadways in Central Newfoundland will see improvements this construction season.
“Several kilometres of roads in this region will be improved a result of this tender,” said the Honourable Tom Hedderson, Minister of Transportation and Works. “Roads in rural areas of the province are a vital link between people and communities and we are pleased to be able to announce this work this construction season.”

“Our highways are so important to the way we live and do business in our communities,” said the Honourable Susan Sullivan, Minister of Innovation, Trade and Rural Development and MHA for Grand Falls-Windsor - Buchans. “Our government continues to invest in transportation infrastructure in rural Newfoundland and Labrador.”
“These road improvements show this government’s commitment to strengthening transportation links in rural regions of this province,” said Ray Hunter, MHA for Grand Falls-Windsor - Green Bay South. “The work completed as a result of this tender will help lead to improve roads and highways in our communities.”
Budget 2011 Standing Strong: For Prosperity. For Our Future. For Newfoundland and Labrador provides funding of $216.4 million for road and bridge improvements, supplemented by an additional $35.2 million in Federal Government funding, for a total road and bridge investment in 2011-12 of $251.6 million.
