Media Advisory: New Provincial Ferries to be Christened

The Honourable Tom Hedderson, Minister of Transportation and Works, will participate in the christening of the province’s newest ferries, the MV Grace Sparkes and the MV Hazel McIsaac, at a ceremony tomorrow (Friday, March 11). The event will take place at 1:00 p.m. at the Kiewit Offshore Services, Cow Head facility near Marystown.

Minister Hedderson will be joined by the Honourable Darin King, Minister of Human Resources, Labour and Employment and MHA for Grand Bank; Calvin Peach, MHA for Bellevue; Ray Hunter, MHA for Grand Falls-Windsor - Green Bay South; Kevin Pollard, MHA for Baie Verte - Springdale; Rod Hogg, Business Development Manager, Peter Kiewit Sons; members of the Sparkes and McIsaac families; and, other invited guests.

The ceremony will begin in the fabrication shed followed by the official christening of the vessels at dockside. A reception and accompanied vessel tours will follow.
