Public Advisory: Strait of Belle Isle Ferry Service Update

The Department of Transportation and Works advises that due to a mechanical issue with the MV Sir Robert Bond, the MV Apollo, which was scheduled to come out of service on Monday, January 17 for its annual refit, will now continue operating between St. Barbe and Blanc Sablon until Saturday, January 22. The vessel will then come out of service for refit.

The MV Sir Robert Bond is now scheduled to commence service on Wednesday, January 26, providing two round trips per week between Blanc Sablon and Corner Brook, departing Blanc Sablon. Should the mechanical problem with the MV Sir Robert Bond not be corrected in time to resume the service as scheduled, a further advisory will be issued.

The MV Apollo’s refit is expected to take two months. Once the vessel returns from refit, and provided ice conditions are favourable, service will resume between St. Barbe and Blanc Sablon. Should ice conditions prevent the resumption of service from St. Barbe, the MV Apollo will continue to operate out of Corner Brook on the same twice-weekly schedule used by the MV Sir Robert Bond.
