Mount Pearl Organization Receives $15,000 for New Recreation Equipment

The Mount Pearl Kinsmen Club has received $15,000 through the Provincial Government’s Capital Grant Program to assist with the purchase of new equipment for a community playground.

“This funding will be used to help purchase various pieces of playground equipment, safety sand, and safety fencing,” said the Honourable Terry French, Minister of Tourism, Culture and Recreation. “A project such as this will provide residents, in particular children and youth, with a safe place to participate in healthy and fun outdoor activities.”

The Mount Pearl Kinsmen Club is among more than 50 community-based organizations, municipalities and recreation commissions that have received funding to upgrade their recreation and sport infrastructure through these latest Capital Grant Program investments.

“I'm thrilled with this latest infrastructure investment in my area,” said Steve Kent, MHA for Mount Pearl North. “The Kinsmen Club has played a major role in building our community, and now the club will be instrumental in constructing a new playground along the Waterford River Trail.”

Paul Davis, MHA for Topsail is happy to see funding approved for the area.

“The Mount Pearl Kinsmen continue to contribute a great deal towards the betterment of the community, and this playground is just one example of their dedication to the people of the city,” said MHA Davis. “With the assistance of this grant, the Kinsmen will be able to provide young residents with a safe place to play and have fun.”
