Association of Cultural Industries Receives Provincial Government Funding
The Association of Cultural Industries has received a total of $50,000 through the Provincial Government’s Cultural Economic Development Program. Overall, $10,000 will assist with the delivery of 2011 Culture Days, and $40,000 will support the operations of the organization.
“The Association of Cultural Industries plays a significant role in safeguarding our province’s exciting cultural sector,” said the Honourable Terry French, Minister of Tourism, Culture and Recreation. “As an organization, it helps our provincial artists and the cultural community identify concerns facing the industry, which in turn helps advance the growth and development of our cultural resources and the sector overall.”
George Murray, Executive Director of the Association of Cultural Industries, welcomed the support.
“Funding provided by the Provincial Government is vital to ensuring the health of cultural institutions, the arts, and the economy of Newfoundland and Labrador,” said Mr. Murray. “I look forward to continuing to work with the Provincial Government to both protect and grow our cultural assets.”
The Association of Cultural Industries represents a province-wide membership of professionals from all areas of the cultural sector. Through the development of working contacts and partnerships, the group acts as a conduit for information and communications relating to the cultural arts community and for initiating necessary research efforts.

For Newfoundland and Labrador provides $2.9 million through its Cultural Economic Development Program to support arts, cultural, and heritage initiatives throughout the province.
