Provincial Basketball Teams at Nationals

The Provincial Juvenile (U17) Girls team defeated Prince Edward Island 67 – 56 yesterday at the Women’s National Basketball Championships in Winnipeg, MB. Hannah Jardine scored with 14 points for the NL team with Sydney Ezekiel and Hilary Strong getting 13 points each. The team faces Manitoba later today.

The U15 Girls played against New Brunswick on Thursday and won 44 – 38; the top scorer was Rosemary Stanoev with 18 points. Kelsey Moore scored eight points in the game. The NL team will face Manitoba later today.

The U15 Boys team beat Prince Edward Island on Thursday at the Men’s National Basketball Championships in Toronto, ON. The top scorer was Christian Greenland with 19 points, with Ryan Hanlon getting 16 points and David Grainger getting 10 points. The U15 team lost against Alberta earlier today 41 – 67. Ryan Hanlon led the scoring in this game with 10 points, and Brett Warren scored seven points, while David Grainger scored six points.

The U17 Boys team lost to Nova Scotia yesterday 49 – 86. Rourke Dawson led the scoring with 10 points, while Ryan Harnett and Mitchell Hearn had seven points each. The NL U17 Boys’ team is taking on the Manitoba team today.
