Provincial Basketball Teams at Nationals

The Provincial Juvenile (U17) Girls team was defeated by Quebec 91 – 44 at the Women’s National Basketball Championships in Winnipeg, MB. Hannah Jardine scored 20 points for the NL team with Sydney Ezekiel getting 12 points. The team faces PEI later today.

The U15 Girls Team faced Manitoba on Wednesday and lost 61 – 58, Kelsey Moore was the top scorer for NL with 21 points, with Maria Carroll getting 10 points. The team then faced Nova Scotia today and lost 57 – 48. Rosemary Stanoev led the scoring with nine points, while Stacey Leawood, Kelsey Moore and Maria Carroll had eight points each.

The U15 Boys team beat Alberta 59 – 53 on Tuesday at the Men’s National Basketball Championships in Toronto, ON. The top scorer was Ryan Hanlon with 21 points, with David Grainger getting 11 points. The U15 team lost against Manitoba on Wednesday 70 – 51. Nicholas Frew led the scoring in this game with 18 points, and Brett Warren scored nine points. The U15 Boys face Prince Edward Island later today.

The U17 Boys team lost to Ontario 88 – 52 in their first game of the tournament on Tuesday; Daniel Foo and Ryan Harnett led the NL scoring with 12 points each, and Ryan Harnett had nine points. The NL team beat New Brunswick 92 – 79 on Wednesday. Mitchell Hearn led the scoring with 28 points, while Daniel Foo had 21 points and Ryan Harnett had 19 points. The team faces off with Nova Scotia later today.
