Campia Gymnastics Club Receives $15,000 in Recreational Infrastructure Funding

The Campia Gymnastic Club has received $15,000 through the Provincial Government’s Capital Grant Program to assist with the purchase and installation of new equipment for the facility.

“This investment will be used to purchase mats, connectors, and various equipment accessories,” said the Honourable Terry French, Minister of Tourism, Culture and Recreation. “The Provincial Government recognizes that having this additional equipment will allow more children and participants in Campia’s new adult program to enjoy the healthy benefits that can be achieved in the sport of gymnastics.”

The Campia Gymnastics Club is among more than 50 community-based organizations, municipalities and recreation commissions that have received funding to upgrade their recreation and sport infrastructure through these latest Capital Grant Program investments.

"Campia Gymnastics is one of the largest minor sport organizations serving Mount Pearl, Paradise, and surrounding communities,” said Steve Kent, MHA for Mount Pearl North. "I'm thrilled that the Provincial Government continues to support the growth of a club that does a great deal to promote healthy and active living among hundreds of our youth.”

Budget 2011 Standing Strong: For Prosperity. For Our Future. For Newfoundland and Labrador provides $11.5 million to support recreation and sport in the province. Since the launch of the Provincial Government’s recreation and sport strategy, Active, Healthy Newfoundland and Labrador (2007), more than $70 million has been committed to recreational and sport infrastructure, programming, and athlete development throughout the province.
