Rising Tide Theatre Benefits from Cultural Sector Investment

Rising Tide Theatre has received $75,000 through the Provincial Government’s Cultural Economic Development Program.

“This funding will be used to offset costs associated with the production of the 2011 Summer Theatre Festival, set against the wonderful backdrop of Trinity Bight,” said the Honourable Terry French, Minister of Tourism, Culture and Recreation. “Rising Tide continues to showcase an award-winning blend of drama, culture and history performed by some of the province’s finest artists.”

Rising Tide Theatre productions are currently underway and will run until September 4.

“Rising Tide Theatre continues to delight visitors in the Trinity area,” said the Honourable Ross Wiseman, Minister of Environment and Conservation and MHA for Trinity North. “Every year, the theatre attracts visitors from around the world who are entertained by some of the most talented actors and entertainers in Newfoundland and Labrador. I am delighted the Provincial Government continues to support this dynamic theatre company.”

Donna Butt, artistic and executive director of Rising Tide Theatre said the Provincial Government’s cultural investment is significant to the success of the summer theatre festival.

“We are most grateful to the Provincial Government for their continued support of our festival,” said Ms. Butt. “Their funding contributes to the quality of our work and enables us to play a critical role as a cultural and economic force in our region and our province. We take our responsibility to both very seriously and are proud to be one of the leaders in the cultural tourism industry.”
