Recreational Infrastructure Investment Provided to Deep Cove

The Deep Cove Recreation Association has received $15,000 from the Provincial Government’s Capital Grant Program to assist with the development of a recreational walkway for residents in the area.

“This funding will be used to assist with the purchase of material and the construction of a walkway around the perimeter of Deep Cove,” said the Honourable Terry French, Minister of Tourism, Culture and Recreation. “This will provide a safe place for residents to get active through walking and to take in the marvelous view of the surrounding area.”

Deep Cove Recreation Association is among more than 50 community-based organizations, municipalities and recreation commissions that have received funding to upgrade their recreation and sport infrastructure through the latest Capital Grant Program investments.

Budget 2011 Standing Strong: For Prosperity. For Our Future. For Newfoundland and Labrador provides $11.5 million through the Department of Tourism, Culture and Recreation to support recreation and sport in the province. Since the launch of the Provincial Government’s recreation and sport strategy, Active, Healthy Newfoundland and Labrador (2007), more than $70 million has been committed to recreational and sport infrastructure, programming, and athlete development throughout the province.
