Twillingate Benefits from Recreational Infrastructure Investment
The Lion’s Club playground in Twillingate is getting a $15,000 upgrade as a result of funding through the Capital Grant Program.
“This investment will be used to assist with the purchase and installation of slides, swings, and climbing areas for the community playground,” said the Honourable Terry French, Minister of Tourism, Culture and Recreation. “This will provide children with a safe place to participate in fun outdoor activities. Facilities such as these play an important role in promoting the physical, recreational, and social activities within communities.”
Twillingate Lion’s Club is among more than 50 community-based organizations, municipalities and recreation commissions that have received funding to upgrade their recreation and sport infrastructure through these latest Capital Grant Program investments.
“The capital grant will go a long way in rejuvenating the playground facility in the Twillingate area,” said the Honourable Derrick Dalley, MHA for the Isles of Notre Dame. “The Lions Club has supported the playground for many years and this funding will support the Lions and the community in their efforts to enhance the facility for use by the youth of the area. The community playground is an important component of recreational activity and will help contribute to healthy and active lifestyles for our children.”
