Media Advisory: Minister to Address International Hunting Convention

The Honourable Terry French, Minister of Tourism, Culture and Recreation, will attend the Safari Club International annual hunting show in Reno, Nevada, January 26-29 to promote the Newfoundland and Labrador outfitting industry. On behalf of the Honourable Ross Wiseman, Minister of Environment and Conservation, he will also provide an update to delegates on the Provincial Government’s Woodland Caribou Strategy.

Safari Club International is a global organization composed of conservationists and hunters, with more than 50,000 members and 180 local chapters worldwide. Each year the organization holds a convention in Reno, which includes the world’s largest hunting show, showcasing the best international hunting destinations and products.

Newfoundland and Labrador has exhibited at this show for the past 10 years. This year’s participants include the Department of Tourism, Culture and Recreation, the Department of Environment and Conservation, the Newfoundland and Labrador Outfitting Association and two local outfitting businesses.
