Twelve Farms Participating in Annual Open Farm Day

Twelve farms in Newfoundland and Labrador will open their doors to the public as part of Open Farm Day on Sunday, September 18.

“Newfoundland and Labrador offers consumers a variety of fresh, delicious, locally-produced agricultural products, and Open Farm Day is a great opportunity for people to visit local farms to see what is being grown in this province,” said the Honourable Shawn Skinner, Minister of Natural Resources and Minister Responsible for the Forestry and Agrifoods Agency. “It is also an opportunity to promote local products and in the long term increase sales by encouraging consumers to request local produce when they shop at grocery stores.”

Open Farm Day raises awareness of the agriculture industry in Atlantic Canada. In Newfoundland and Labrador, the public has the opportunity to visit local farms to see where their food comes from, to meet the producers, and enjoy a day on a farm.

Participating farms are located in Happy Valley-Goose Bay, Labrador; Millville, Robinsons, Port au Port, Steady Brook, Little Rapids and Cormack in the western region; Norris Point on the Northern Peninsula; Carbonear, Paradise, St. John’s and Logy Bay in the eastern region.
