Public Advisory: Air Foodlift Subsidy Program Implemented for South Coast/Straits of Labrador

Due to the ice conditions preventing the MV Apollo from making scheduled crossings from Blanc Sablon to St. Barbe, the Government of Newfoundland and Labrador has implemented the Air Foodlift Subsidy Program (AFS) for the South Coast/ Straits of Labrador.

AFS policy states that if for some reason (inclement weather or mechanical failure) there is a stoppage of scheduled crossings of a marine vessel for an extended period of time, then the retailers in these communities would be eligible to participate in the AFS program. Retailers on the South Coast/Straits of Labrador are now eligible to take part in the program. The AFS program will remain in effect for five days after the MV Apollo returns to its scheduled crossings.

For retailers seeking further information, please call Jeannine Chaulk Moores at 709-896-1780.
