Media Advisory: Minister to Participate in Ceremony to Honour Peacekeeping Officers

The Honourable Felix Collins, Minister of Justice and Attorney General, will address the International Peace Operations Commemorative Coin Presentation today (Tuesday, January 11) at Government House at 2:00 p.m.

Minister Collins will join His Honour, the Honourable John C. Crosbie, Lieutenant Governor of Newfoundland and Labrador and Honorary Chief of Police, along with Royal Newfoundland Constabulary (RNC) Chief of Police Robert Johnston, who will present eight RNC officers with the International Peace Operations Commemorative Coin.

The coin recognizes the individual contributions of Canadian police officers who serve overseas on behalf of Canada’s International Police Peace Operations Program. Over the past 22 years more than 2,000 Canadian police officers have served in some of the world's most challenging places in the name of peace. These officers have served in African countries, the Middle East, the Balkans, Haiti, East Timor and Afghanistan.
