Gander Software Company Targets Bigger Market

Gander-based PROCOM Data Services, a provider of municipal accounting and management software, has received a $156,373 term loan from the Provincial Government. The funding will enable the company to roll out its new software to existing clients and move forward with product marketing initiatives in Sri Lanka.

“The Provincial Government’s suite of business development programs are in place to help companies such as PROCOM Data Services develop and market their products,” said the Honourable Susan Sullivan, Minister of Innovation, Trade and Rural Development. “As this company enhances it product, support from the Provincial Government will help it better satisfy the needs of its clients and market the product to new customers. It is exciting to see a local business recognize the value of continued innovation as a means of recruiting and retaining clients.”

PROCOM Data Services’ TownSuite® program is designed to manage the financial, planning and development, as well as the asset management requirements of municipal governments. With the new software, the company’s clients, which are located in Newfoundland and Labrador, Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island, Alberta, Sri Lanka, and Bermuda, can access information through a single program.

“PROCOM Data Services is an innovative company based in Gander and delivering a unique service internationally,” said the Honourable Kevin O’Brien, Minister of Municipal Affairs and MHA for Gander. “Not only is this financial support of the Provincial Government beneficial to the company and the Town of Gander, the program developed by PROCOM Data Services should allow municipalities to improve the administration of their communities. I am extremely pleased to see this support, along with the continued progression of the company.”

In addition to providing the necessary level of technical support for clients as they adopt the new software, funding improves PROCOM Data Services ability to build on existing relationships in Sri Lanka to secure new business in that country.

“2012 will mark our 25th year in business and we want to celebrate it with some significant product releases and service improvements,” said George Whey, President and CEO, PROCOM Data Services Inc. “This funding will enable us to maintain and improve our client services, while focusing on expanding our markets.”

Funding was provided through the Department of Innovation, Trade and Rural Development’s Commercialization and Businesses and Market Development Programs.
