Newfoundland and Labrador Housing Corporation
Welcomes Affordable Housing Proposals
Newfoundland and Labrador Housing Corporation advises that requests for proposals are now being called for the development and operation of affordable rental housing throughout the province.
"This call for proposals is an opportunity to develop more affordable housing for the specific needs and priorities of Newfoundlanders and Labradorians,” said Darin King, Minister Responsible for Newfoundland and Labrador Housing Corporation. "The priorities for the 2011-14 Affordable Housing Program are rental housing for low to moderate income families and seniors, as well as persons with disabilities and complex needs."
It is anticipated that approximately 250 units may be created through private sector and supportive living providers. Proponents may be eligible for capital assistance in the form of a forgivable loan.
The deadline for submitting project proposals is September 21, 2011. Program details and application forms are online at www.nlhc.nl.ca. Successful applicants are expected to be notified this fall.
