Appointment Made to Workplace Health, Safety and Compensation
Commission Board of Directors

The Honourable Darin King, Minister of Human Resources, Labour and Employment, and Minister Responsible for the Workplace Health, Safety and Compensation Commission (WHSCC), today announced the appointment of Jacqueline Fizzard to the commission’s Board of Directors. Ms. Fizzard will serve as a Public Representative.

The appointment was effective June 6, 2011, for a three-year term, pursuant to Section 4 of the Workplace Health, Safety and Compensation Act.

“I am pleased to appoint Ms. Fizzard to the board of directors of the Workplace Health, Safety and Compensation Commission,” said Minister King. “We now have a full contingent of 10 board members with a broad representation of workers, employers and members of the public from across the province. I am confident that Ms. Fizzard’s energy and insight will provide great support to the board in its governance of the commission.”

The Workplace Health, Safety and Compensation is an employer-funded, no fault insurance system that promotes safe and healthy workplaces, provides return-to-work programs and fair compensation to injured workers and their dependants.

Biographical Information

Jacqueline Fizzard
A resident of Grand Bank on the Burin Peninsula, Ms. Fizzard is currently a director with the Newfoundland and Labrador Housing Corporation and a regular campaigner for the Canadian Red Cross and Canadian Cancer Society. Ms. Fizzard has worked as a manager with AVCO Financial Services and Citi Financial Companies, and has served with the Grand Bank Recreation Commission and the Grand Bank Kinettes organization.
