Public Advisory: Alternate Delivery Methods Outlined for Provincial Government Payments

As part of the Government of Newfoundland and Labrador’s contingency plan in response to the Canada Post strike, alternate arrangements have been made for payments and services to clients of Provincial Government programs.

Affected payments include, but are not limited to, income and employment support cheques; wage subsidy payments; labour market program funding; public service pensions; government vendor payments; child support and spousal payments; community support services; and student loans.

Select Provincial Government offices will be used to distribute cheques to clients, and in some cases via Regional Health Authorities, at prescribed times. For information on office locations and any other inquiries clients should call 1-888-313-9356 or TTY 1-888-729-5440 to connect to the appropriate department. Information can also be found at www.gov.nl.ca/postalstrike.

Persons with disabilities or clients who live in remote or isolated communities should call 1-888-313-9356 or TTY 1-888-729-5440 or contact the appropriate department.

Electronic payments will not be affected by the Canada Post strike. Direct-deposit payments will be made as normal.

While some delays and disruptions may be experienced, residents, employers, community groups and businesses, should note that the Provincial Government is making every effort to ensure that payments are made as close to their original date of delivery as possible.
