Employers Encouraged to Recruit at Job Fair in New England

Newfoundland and Labrador employers are invited to recruit skilled job-seekers at an Atlantic region job fair to be held in New England this month. Promoting the Atlantic region together to attract highly skilled workers is one new approach of the four Atlantic provinces to meet job shortages under the banner Canada’s East Coast.

“This job fair is a great chance to reach out to potential employees to strengthen our province’s workforce,” said the Honourable Darin King, Minister of Human Resources, Labour and Employment and Minister Responsible for the Office of Immigration and Multiculturalism. “There are many highly skilled workers living in New England, and this job fair is a chance to let them know about well-paying jobs in Newfoundland and Labrador.”

The job fair is organized by the Atlantic Population Table, a partnership created by federal and provincial ministers in 2008. It will take place from March 11 to 13 at the Omni Parker House Hotel in Boston. Employers will showcase employment opportunities to skilled job-seekers through presentations at exhibit booths and private discussions in on-site interview rooms.

The fair will also offer employers a Canada’s East Coast networking reception that is expected to host more than 200 Atlantic Canadians living in the Boston area. The weekend attraction and promotional event will also feature a labour mobility information session and online job advertising at www.canadaseastcoast.ca.

For more information on attending this event, employers may contact Andrew Mackey of the Provincial Government’s Office of Immigration and Multiculturalism at 709-729-7298.
