Interest in BizPal Continues to Grow

More businesses than ever are using BizPal to simplify the way they operate. Recent statistics show that the Newfoundland and Labrador BizPal website was visited 5,000 times in the last month by local businesses, as well as potential business operators from countries as far away as Mexico, Italy and Singapore. As a result of this growth and development, the national BizPal project, of which Newfoundland and Labrador is a partner, received an excellence in public delivery award this fall at the Government Technology Exhibition and Conference in Ottawa.

“Since we introduced BizPaL in this province in 2009, we have actively approached and assisted municipalities in getting this very important service in place for their residents and those interested in starting businesses in participating communities,” said the Honourable Paul Davis, Minister of Service NL. “We have seen growing interest from local operators, as well as businesses around the world, wishing to set up operations in this province. This award is proof that this project has created a true resource for businesses across the country, particularly here in this province, which are looking for one-stop access to everything they need as small businesses.”

BizPaL is an innovative service that provides entrepreneurs with simplified access to the information such as permits and licences they need from all three levels of government to establish and run their particular businesses. The service saves time and money, improves business planning and will provide business owners with the answers they need. This unique partnership among federal, provincial, territorial, regional and local governments is designed to cut through the paperwork burden and red tape that small business owners encounter.

“To date, we have welcomed 26 municipalities into the BizPal program,” said Minister Davis. “We look forward to the continued expansion of the program, and we are honoured that this accolade has recognized the important work we are all doing with BizPal for entrepreneurs in this province.”
