Contractor Faces OHS Charges in Provincial Court
The Department of Government Services announced today that Platinum Homes Limited has been charged with violations under the Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulations in relation to an accident that occurred in July 2009. The charges are the result of an investigation by the Occupational Health and Safety Branch.
The incident occurred in Paradise, and involved a worker who fell from the roof of a two storey house which was under construction.
The company has been charged with three violations which relate generally to its alleged failure as an employer to provide a safe workplace, to ensure that effective means of fall protection were provided, and to ensure that workers were appropriately supervised.
The first appearance is scheduled for June 28, 2011 at Provincial Court in St. John’s.
