Company Enhances Promotion Through Fisheries Innovation Program

Allen’s Fisheries Limited will be better able to reach international markets with funding support provided through the Provincial Government’s Fisheries Technology and New Opportunities Program. The Honourable Darin King, Minister of Fisheries and Aquaculture, announced $18,480 in funding today to help the company enhance its marketing materials.

“This investment illustrates how the Provincial Government is helping small to medium-sized businesses in the fishery enhance their promotional efforts so they are better able to compete locally, nationally, and globally,” said Minister King. “The Fisheries Technology and New Opportunities Program exists to help ambitious harvesters and processors expand and diversify their operations, which in turn strengthens our overall industry. I encourage more companies to apply to the program, and I wish Allen’s Fisheries all the best in their efforts.”

Allen’s Fisheries Limited, a seafood processing business in Benoit’s Cove that has been in operation for more than 100 years, will use the funds to create a new website for the company and produce a new brochure. The company’s history, its product lines, its approach to quality assurance, and its harvesting and processing capabilities will now be available to a wide range of consumers at the click of a button or turn of a page. These new marketing materials will be specially designed to support the company’s participation in industry trade shows and to advance relationships with customers.

“The fishery is competitive on a global scale, and so it is important for all companies, large and small, to maintain a fresh and engaging public image that attracts and keeps customers,” said Richard Allen, Vice-President of Allen’s Fisheries Limited. “We appreciate the Provincial Government’s assistance with our marketing efforts, and we look forward to having exciting new materials in the near future.”

During the first three years of the Fisheries Technology and New Opportunities Program, the Provincial Government invested approximately $6 million to support a total of 127 industry-driven projects. Budget 2011 Standing Strong: For Prosperity. For Our Future. For Newfoundland and Labrador continued the program for an additional three years with a total investment of $6.6 million.
