Media Advisory: Minister to Speak at Angels Corner Unveiling

The Honourable Susan Sullivan, Minister Responsible for the Status of Women, will join the Mayor of St. John’s, Dennis O’Keefe, and other community representatives to unveil Angels Corner tomorrow (Thursday, October 20).

Angels Corner has been created to commemorate female victims of violence and to promote awareness of the need to end violence against women. The concept for the commemoration was initiated in a July 2007 meeting of Provincial and Territorial Ministers for the Status of Women.

The event will take place tomorrow at 10:00 a.m. at the corner of Prescott and Duckworth Streets in St. John’s. In the event of poor weather, the event will move to the Foran/Green Room, St. John’s City Hall.
