Housing Corporation CEO Tenders Resignation
The Honourable Kathy Dunderdale, Premier of Newfoundland and Labrador, has accepted the resignation of Len Simms, Chair and CEO of the Newfoundland and Labrador Housing Corporation.
“Mr. Simms has indicated he wishes to actively participate in the upcoming election and under the human resources policy guidelines regarding active political involvement by senior public servants, he must resign, and he has done that today,” said Premier Dunderdale.
Premier Dunderdale expressed appreciation to Mr. Simms for his service to the people of the province. “Mr. Simms has given many years of outstanding service to Newfoundland and Labrador, and I wish to thank him for that public service and his work at the Newfoundland and Labrador Housing Corporation,” she said.
Tom Lawrence will assume duties of the Chair and CEO of the Newfoundland and Labrador Housing Corporation in an acting capacity.
“Mr. Lawrence is a valued senior executive with the public service,” said Premier Dunderdale. “I am confident he will continue the good leadership of the Newfoundland and Labrador Housing Corporation.”

Biographical Information
Tom Lawrence
Tom Lawrence has held positions of progressive responsibility since
beginning his career with Newfoundland and Labrador Housing in 1981. He has
served as Chief Financial Officer since 2004 when he was appointed in an
acting capacity, being confirmed in the role in 2005. Mr. Lawrence holds a
Bachelor of Commerce degree and a Certified Management Accountant
designation. In 2005, he was awarded the Fellow of the Society of Management
Accountants of Canada. He lives in the Town of Conception Bay South.
