Interim Auditor General Appointed
The Honourable Kathy Dunderdale, Premier of Newfoundland and Labrador, today announced the appointment of Wayne Loveys as interim Auditor General, effective August 1.
Mr. Loveys will serve in an acting capacity until an Auditor General is confirmed by a resolution of the House of Assembly, as per Section 4 (2) of the Auditor General Act. He will replace John Noseworthy, who has announced he is retiring from the position.
“Having worked in the Office of the Auditor General for more than 30 years, most recently as Deputy Auditor General, Mr. Loveys has a wealth of experience to guide this transition period,” said Premier Dunderdale. “I thank Mr. Noseworthy for his contributions as Auditor General and wish him an enjoyable retirement.”

Biographical Information
Wayne Loveys
Wayne Loveys has been with the Office of the Auditor General since 1979,
having started there as a university recruit following graduation from
Memorial University with a Bachelor of Commerce (Honours) degree. In his
more than 30 years with the office since then, he has held increasingly more
responsible positions. Currently he is Deputy Auditor General.
In addition to a degree from Memorial, Mr. Loveys has the professional Certified Management Accountant designation. He has also participated in numerous audit related and other training initiatives locally and nationally. He has represented the Office of the Auditor General as the province’s member on several national committees, including most recently the Strategic Issues Group of the Canadian Council of Legislative Auditors.
Over the years, Mr. Loveys has been an active community volunteer with many organizations, including as Beaver and Scout leader.
