Media Advisory: Premier to Attend Meeting of Council of the Federation
The Honourable Kathy Dunderdale, Premier of Newfoundland and Labrador, will attend the Council of the Federation summer meeting in Vancouver, British Columbia, July 20-22. This year’s meeting will be chaired by British Columbia Premier Christy Clark.
Discussion topics include maternal and parental employment insurance benefits, early childhood development, healthcare and fiscal arrangements, and jobs and the economy. This meeting will also provide an opportunity for Premier Dunderdale to speak with her counterparts from across the country on the development of Muskrat Falls.
Premier Dunderdale will also attend a meeting of Premiers and National Aboriginal Organization Leaders on the afternoon of Wednesday, July 20.
For media that are unable to travel, a dial-in option will be available for the closing news conference. The Council of the Federation comprises all 13 provincial and territorial premiers. It enables premiers to work collaboratively to strengthen the Canadian federation by fostering a constructive relationship among the provinces and territories, and with the Federal Government.
