Media Advisory: Final Details of Council of the Federation Summer Meeting in Vancouver on July 20-22

Please note the following final details regarding the 2011 Summer Meeting of the Council of the Federation (COF) taking place in Vancouver from July 20 -22.

Media Registration
Media representatives who wish to attend the 2011 Council of the Federation Summer Meeting must be accredited. A photo-ID badge will be provided to all accredited media at the media registration desk during the following hours:

Media Centre – Crystal Pavilion Ballroom A
Pan Pacific Hotel, 300-999 Canada Place, Vancouver

Wednesday, July 20: 8:00 am – 7:00 pm
Thursday, July 21: 7:00 am – 7:00 pm
Friday, July 22: 7:00 am – 4:00 pm

Media Centre
A Media Centre will be located in Crystal Pavilion Ballroom A (Lobby level) of the Pan Pacific Hotel. This room will be equipped with Internet access, power outlets and television monitors.

Satellite Truck Parking
Parking for satellite trucks is very limited. To coordinate a live pool feed, please contact Nina Chiarelli with the Government of British Columbia at 250-387-0793 or nina.chiarelli@gov.bc.ca

Dial-in Information
For media that are unable to travel, a dial-in option will be available for the closing news conference. Media will be able to pose questions, but precedence will be given to media on-site. Interested media are requested to dial-in by 1:10 pm PST on Friday, July 22 using the following numbers:

Thursday, July 21

8:25 am Council of the Federation Meeting commences (photo opportunity at start of meeting) (Media will be escorted to meeting room.)

2:15 pm Media Opportunity with Premier Christy Clark, Christine Gregoire, Governor of Washington and immediate past Chair of the National Governors Association, and Gary Doer, Ambassador of Canada to the United States (Crystal Pavilion Foyer, Lobby Level, Pan Pacific Hotel)
4:00 pm Media Centre closed

 

Unimic Area
A unimic will be located in Crystal Pavilion Ballroom B & C (Lobby level) of the Pan Pacific Hotel. A second unimic will be located nearby in the Crystal Pavilion Foyer.

Additional Information
Media are asked to contact Nina Chiarelli with the Government of British Columbia (contact information below), should they require assistance with specific services in connection with this meeting.

A meeting of Premiers and National Aboriginal Organization Leaders will be held in the afternoon on Wednesday, July 20, at the Fairmont Pacific Rim Hotel in Vancouver. Details about this meeting have been issued by the Government of British Columbia.

The Council of the Federation comprises all 13 provincial and territorial premiers. It enables premiers to work collaboratively to strengthen the Canadian federation by fostering a constructive relationship among the provinces and territories, and with the Federal Government.
